The Civil Litigation Division is spear headed by the Attorney General Advocate Abraham M. Keetshabe. The Civil litigation division is responsible for defending and instituting civil matters for and on behalf of the Government in its representative capacity.

The Attorney General is assisted by two Deputy Government Attorneys and an Assistant Government Attorney, in that order. Then follows Chief State Counsel, Principal State Counsel Grades I & II, Senior State Counsel Grades I & II and State Counsel Grades I & II who are all Attorneys at law and admitted as such.

The Division operates from their Headquarters in Gaborone, Government Enclave and also has a regional office in Francistown.

Decentralization

The Civil litigation division intends on establishing a regional office in Maun following the opening of the High Court in Maun.
