  • Legislation: refers to rules that are made by a body that has been given the authority under the Constitution to make them.
  • Statute law: A written law passed by a legislative body or a body of enacted laws passed by Parliament.
  • Enactment: An Act or statutory Instrument or any provision of an Act or statutory instrument.
  • Bill: A proposed law or an amendment to an existing law made by Parliament
  • Act: A law passed by Parliament.
  • Statutory Instrument: A secondary legislation usually made by a Minister.
  • Bye-Laws: Secondary legislation made by local authorities.
  • Memorandum: A brief of what a proposed law or an amendment covers.
  • Date of Assent: A day in which the President signs an Act into law.
  • Cabinet memorandum: a directive from cabinet instructing a Ministry and Attorney General’s Chambers (LDD) to prepare a Bill to be presented before Parliament.
